Music Requests on Zone Radio

Zone Radio has an extensive music library, allowing us to offer our listeners the opportunity to request songs via our studio WhatsApp line: 072 447 8044.

Conditions apply to music requests during live shows:

  1. All music requests are played at the discretion of the presenter.
  2. Requests must be sent as text messages only. Voice notes cannot be listened to while the presenter is live on air.
  3. The presenter will decide when during the show a request is played and whether multiple requests will be mixed together or spaced out across the programme.
  4. During specialist shows, only music relevant to that show’s genre or era may be requested (e.g. blues during a blues show, country during a country show, etc.). If a request falls outside the scope of the programme, the presenter will inform the listener accordingly.
  5. To ensure fairness, listeners are limited to a maximum of three song requests per show.
  6. Listeners are encouraged to vary their requests and avoid repeatedly requesting the same songs or artists, as this can become repetitive for others.
  7. While not essential, we ask listeners to consider the overall vibe of the show when making a request. Ultimately, the presenter will decide whether a request fits the programme. If a request cannot be played, the listener will be notified via WhatsApp.
  8. A request may also be declined due to playlist rotation rules. Zone Radio’s playout system is designed to keep programming fresh by limiting repetition. Songs that reach their maximum monthly play limit are temporarily disabled for 30 days, and tracks played during a show are blocked for two hours afterward.

Zone Radio is proud to be one of the few stations able to accommodate music requests on demand. We ask our listeners to be considerate of one another and to use this feature responsibly.
